1. What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. Cookies let a site remember things between page loads (your session, your preferences) and let analytics tools recognize a returning visitor. We also use related browser-storage mechanisms (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, image pixels) for the same purposes; everything below applies to those too even when we say "cookie."

2. Types we use

Strictly necessary. Required to make the site or admin dashboard work: session continuity, CSRF tokens, load balancer affinity, the patient chat widget's in-progress conversation. Cannot be turned off.
Analytics. Used to measure how visitors find and use the marketing site, so we can improve content and identify broken pages. Currently: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. Loaded via Google Tag Manager.
Functional preferences. Remember interface choices like a closed banner or a dismissed modal. Currently minimal.
Advertising / cross-site tracking: none. We do not run remarketing tags, ad pixels, or third-party advertising cookies on ariadental.ai.

3. Cookie inventory

4. Third-party tags

We load third-party analytics through Google Tag Manager (container GTM-5H6LQ8RL). The GTM container itself does not set tracking cookies. The tags it loads do:

Google Analytics 4 (property G-KQS3692C4Q). Aggregated event data such as page view, scroll depth, form submission. We do not enable Google Signals or advertising features. Google's privacy policy.
Microsoft Clarity (project wn8w0677vz). Heatmaps and session replay. Form fields are masked by default; we configure Clarity to mask sensitive content. Microsoft's privacy statement.

If a dental practice embeds the Aria patient chat widget on its own website, the widget uses browser localStorage to keep an in-progress conversation alive across page navigation, and to remember a returning visitor for the same practice. The widget does not set advertising cookies and does not share any identifier across practice sites. The dental practice's own privacy policy applies to data the patient enters.

6. No advertising cookies

ariadental.ai does not run Google Ads tags, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, TikTok Pixel, or any third-party advertising cookies as of the effective date. If we add any in the future, we will update this page and the consent banner before activating them.

7. How to opt out

You have several layers of control. The right one depends on whether you want a one-site fix, a one-browser fix, or an "all sites everywhere" fix.

Per-site browser controls. Every modern desktop and mobile browser lets you block or delete cookies for a specific origin. In Chrome, Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → View permissions and data stored across sites → ariadental.ai. In Safari, Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data. In Firefox, Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data. Doing this will not break the marketing site. The patient chat widget will lose its in-progress conversation on a hard cookie clear, and you may briefly see a stale page from your browser cache; a refresh fixes it.
Block all third-party cookies. Most browsers expose a single switch to block third-party cookies globally. Aria does not require third-party cookies for any first-party page on ariadental.ai; turning this on will not break anything we control.
Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to block GA4 across every site that uses it. The add-on is supported in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera. Once installed, our GA tag will see your visit but will not record an event.
Microsoft Clarity opt-out. Clarity respects the standard "Do Not Track" browser setting and Global Privacy Control where supported. To opt out site-wide, enable DNT or GPC in your browser, or block clarity.ms with a content blocker such as uBlock Origin.
Per-IP suppression for our analytics. If you would rather not configure a browser, email privacy@ariadental.ai with the IP address you would like suppressed. We will exclude that IP from GA4 and Clarity within five business days. The exclusion is best-effort: dynamic residential IPs change, so the exclusion will lapse when your address rotates.
Future consent banner. We are rolling out a granular cookie-consent banner during 2026 to let you opt in or out per category at first visit. Until then the controls above are the available levers. The banner will not retroactively change anything that has already been set; clear cookies once when it goes live to take advantage of fresh defaults.
Mobile devices. On iOS and Android, the same browser controls apply. If you use a privacy-focused browser such as Brave or DuckDuckGo, the analytics tags described above are blocked by default and you do not need to take any further action.

None of the cookies we set will follow you across sites. None are used to build an advertising profile. Aria is funded by paying dental practices, not by ads; we have no commercial reason to track visitors after they leave.

8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where required by law. We currently treat a GPC signal from a California IP address as a request to limit analytics processing for that browser session. Most major browsers do not send a meaningful "Do Not Track" header anymore; we treat any explicit Do-Not-Track header the same as GPC.

9. Changes & contact

We will update this page when we add, remove, or materially reconfigure a cookie or browser-storage entry. The effective date at the top tells you when the most recent change happened. Substantive changes — for example, adding any new analytics or advertising tag — will be announced in the consent banner before they take effect, and described here.
